The SPA! Just seeing that name gives me goose bumps and memories of times past when my only problems were finishing research projects and finding something exciting to do on the weekends! Having “time” to actually get to the SPA is a luxury most of us women cannot afford! Time, has become my most valuable possession that I loose very quickly if I’m not mindful. Through the hustle and bustle of being a full time working professional, mother, and wife, setting aside time for myself is as you can imagine, HARD! Self-care is so vital and a necessity for both men and women if we want to avoid burning out and being the best versions of ourselves. Making it a regular habit to set aside alone (ME TIME) is how I have been able to rejuvenate, and bring back a balance and peace in the midst of the chaos. As much as I would love to schedule a much needed SPA day, I have found that the actual scheduling, setting aside the time, and forking out the cash is too difficult to do and I push it aside, setting my self care on the back burner. A more proactive way of setting my self-care as a priority is making quick and easy (available) options that are at arms reach! Lets face it; there will be days when a glass of good ol’ Pinot and the bachelor on TV will have to do! Reality is, that if we have to try too hard to do something, chances are, we won’t do it! Make self-care easy, enjoyable, and something you look forward to!
As part of my self-care routine, I have really enjoyed using shower-bombs (nobody has time for baths!) while I shower. Not only do these smell amazing, the essential oils inside provide numerous amounts of health benefits as well! What I LOVE about making these at home, is that you can customize them to your or your family’s specific needs! Shower Bombs are wonderful for colds, stress, relaxation, vigilance and much more!! Make Your Own!
You Will Need:
• 1 cup Baking Soda
• 1/3 cup water
• 15-20 drops of your favorite Essential oils
• Mixing bowl
• Silicone molds or Muffin/Cupcake tin (note-you will need wax paper or cupcake tissues if you do not have a Silicone mold.)
Begin by pouring baking soda and water into mixing bowl.
Mix for a few seconds until mushy consistency.
Add in your favorite Essential Oil Blends. For this demonstration, I used 6 drops of Eucalyptus (helps with opening airways and respiration), 6 drops of Lavender (helps relax, calm, and sooth), and 6 drops of Rosemary (helps with stress and anxiety relief and boosts immunity). This combination smells amazing!!!
Combine all of the ingredients together.
If your using a muffin tin like myself, cut out square pieces of wax/parchment paper.
Mold paper to the bottom of the tin.
If using a Silicone mold pour mixture evenly and let sit.
Allow mixture to set and harden for 24 hours.
Pull out your shower bombs (or small pieces of SPA heaven) and place in a convenient jar by your shower!!
Now go shower, and enjoy your (ME TIME) so you can get back to your LIFE ☺
